Presentation Night 2011

This season all our age groups have been full, we now have a waiting list of 17 girls, hopefully next season when all age groups move up we will be able to accommodate these girls.

Previously we have entered teams into the Poole Junior League, but this year we decided to join the newly organised Moonrakers Junior League. This was going to be one match per month from September to April with a moving venue, Salisbury Devizes and Warminster. We had enough players to enter four teams, U11, U12, U13 and U 14 but unfortunately due to bad weather and other events we only played in two matches all season both at Devizes. This is a very new league and their are obviously a few problems which hopefully can be ironed out, if not we will be looking to return to the Poole League were the girls are guaranteed more matches.

We entered two teams in the Salisbury & District Netball League this year, one U18 and one Ladies team, the U18 team did exceptionally well by finishing third in the first Division and the Ladies finishing fifth, we are still trying to build on the senior team and hopefully they will be stronger next season.

Lydia Edwards and Amy Oke are both taking their beginners umpiring award, they have already passed the theory and are waiting to take the practical in June, so good luck them both.

Hannah Vaughan and Rosanna Grant are going to be screened for the County Academy on the 15th June, good luck to them both.

The pathway to playing for England is as follows: -

U14 Satellite Academies at Devizes and Swindon, Salisbury will be organising their own Academy as the Satellite was closed in January and hopefully we can bring the girls up to level that they can join the Satellite Academies in the future.

U16 Satellite Academy which leads into the County Academy, from there to Regional Academy, National Excel Programme to the U21 National Team

Our annual tournament was very successful this year with 48 teams attending from Dorset, Hampshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire. Unfortunately none of our teams won the medals but they gained valuable experience. I would like to thank everyone who helped us make it a great day. The money raised will go into the club funds which help subsidized everything within the club, such as kit, entry fees, session fees, match fees and affiliation fees.

The only disappointment for me this year was the U16 group, we only had four girls move up from last year, I was hoping to enter an U16 team in the Salisbury League but that was not possible. Two of the girls did play with the Ladies Team throughout the winter league and did exceptionally well.  With the limited time we have for training at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre means that the U16, U18 and Ladies all have to train in the same group, which is not ideal for the U16 as they find it a huge step up from playing with the U14.

Each year I try to get more time at the Leisure Centre but up to now have not been successful.

If anyone has any suggestion to how we might move forward on this point please let me know, we are also looking for another coach for next season as Lisa is leaving us to have a baby, if any Parents are willing to help out or if they know of anyone that might please let us know.

Just a reminder that we do have a Web Site and I try to keep it updated as much as I can, if anyone wants to add or has any suggestions to improve the site please let me know.

We will be holding our AGM in July everyone is welcome, please fell free to make any comments or suggestions that might improve the Club (your club) we still need to keep moving forward. Date to Follow.

Before we do the presentation I would just to thank everyone who have helped this season, especially to the coaches they do marvellous job, they volunteer to give their time up each week because they love netball and want to make a difference in Salisbury area by giving local girls the chance to belong to a Netball Club, without them Blue Jays would not exist, so a big thank to them, Babs, Debs, Di and Lisa.

Thank you also to Hannah and Lydia who have also helped out with U12 and U14 training sessions.

Good luck and good-bye to Lisa, hopefully she will come back sometime in the future, thanks for all your help.

Thank you also to the umpires, who each week either arrive early or stay late to umpire before or after their match, this means they give up three hours every week so a great big thank you to them.

Thank you to everyone else who has helped this season, that just leaves us to present the trophies and certificates.
